Hi Ho Silver Away!

Ah, Coming back from vacation is never fun or easy to do. JD and I went to Seattle for four days and it was amazing. We ate all sorts of Asian foods, that are absent for some odd reason in Chicago. We also discovered there are a lot of crazy crazy people there! Chicago has lots of homeless people, but they generally keep to themselves when not begging for money. In Seattle, they were screaming at the sky, they were wearing 15 scrunchies and getting in the way in general, they were passing out on the bus and dropping their Mickies bottles at 10 am. It was nuts!
Here is your essay homework, If you were a mayor of a city, how would you deal with your homeless population? Or how crazy are the homeless in your city?
Thank you.
Miss Huang

If I were Mayor, I would fund the crazy homes for the crazies, I would fund the soup kitchens for the hungry ones, and I would have more support for independent shelters (like abused women shelters.) I would also have bath houses for the homeless to take showers and stuff. That way they have better chances to get/keep a steady job!
(this was all from my Miss America speech I gave last year, I lost out to Miss Iraq for her world peace speach though...)

The asian population is pretty prevalent there in Seattle. I love it though, as it makes for great Pho, teriaki, thai, and bubble tea. They don't even have teriaki joints here in Chicago. I miss you already, Thai Tom.

How would i deal with the homeless population. Lets see...since 30% of them choose to live that was, 30% are nuts (maybe more in Seattle), and 30% are down on their luck. I'd hire a team to sort them out, then send the crazies off for treatment. The down-on-their-lucker's would get the government assistance, and the ones that choose to be there could go on roming the streets trying to get change or whatever. The public would be notified of this arrangement, and with this knowledge, could chose wheather or not to give the bums their spare change.
    Or...
step 1: Train them to make bubble tea and teriaki.
step 2: Open asian food chains in Chicago and the mid-west.
    step 3: Profit.

Awesome. giving them jobs in a market that is lacking. Smart thinking. You get an A on this assignment.

Well. In my city, the homeless people found a great hill, behind a park and camped out. It was great! They kept to themselves, only came out when necessary, etc. Then the city decided to kick 'em out! Now, they've got no where to go and they sleep on the side of the streets or downtown. Where my kids walk, etc.

They don't really bug me at all. They aren't aggressive...they just sit there with a can and a sign. No big deal. I think it adds some excitement. Yep.

I say the city should pick them up, clean them up and train them to be productive members of society. Help them get jobs and housing!
